Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 2026

1. Introduction

By using this website and our services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

Our services are not suitable for emergencies or urgent medical conditions. If you experience an acute or urgent medical condition, contact your local emergency services or go to your nearest Accident & Emergency department immediately.

Medical Second Opinion Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 11173981. Our registered office is at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE.

2. Our Service

Medical Second Opinion provides a platform connecting patients with independent medical consultants for the purpose of obtaining a second opinion. We are a connection service, not a medical provider — we do not ourselves provide medical advice or suggest treatment.

We evaluate the medical history and information you provide, match you with a consultant who has the relevant expertise, and put you in contact with them. Consultants are independent medical specialists and are not employees of Medical Second Opinion. The opinions provided are those of the independent consultant, not of Medical Second Opinion, and we make no representation or warranty concerning any opinion issued.

Our fee covers the referral to a suggested, independent consultant only — not the consultant's own fee, which the consultant sets and agrees with you separately. Where we collect that fee, we do so as the consultant's agent, on their behalf; your contract for the consultation itself is with the consultant. We receive an agreed commission from the consultant, deducted from their fee — it is not added to the amount you pay.

3. Eligibility

Our service is available to individuals aged 18 and over. By using the service you confirm you are legally capable of entering into binding contracts.

4. Ordering & Contract

A legally binding contract is formed once your payment is confirmed. You will receive a confirmation email, and will then be asked to submit your case details and any relevant medical documents.

We may decline to proceed with an order — for example if we are unable to identify a suitably qualified consultant for your condition, or if your payment cannot be authorised. If this happens, we will contact you and refund any payment made.

5. Right to Cancel & Refunds

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days of payment without giving a reason, in line with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

By submitting your case details, you are asking us to begin matching you with a consultant before the 14-day cancellation period ends. If you cancel before this matching and reply is complete, we will refund your payment in full. Once we have replied with your matched consultant — typically within 4-5 working days — the service has been fully performed and your right to cancel no longer applies; the fee is non-refundable at that point.

To cancel, contact us using the details below. We will process any refund without undue delay, and no later than 14 days after you tell us you wish to cancel, using the same payment method you used originally.

6. Payment

  • A non-refundable introductory admin fee of £95 per case is payable upfront to initiate the process
  • This fee covers case coordination, consultant matching, and a reply within 4-5 working days — not the consultant's own fee
  • Consultant fees are agreed separately and transparently before any review begins
  • All prices are shown in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT at the applicable rate
  • Payments are accepted by credit or debit card, processed securely via Stripe — we do not store your card details

7. Medical Disclaimer

The second opinion provided is an independent clinical view and does not constitute a diagnosis, treatment plan, or replacement for your existing medical care. You should always consult a qualified medical professional before making decisions about your health. Medical Second Opinion accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of a consultant's opinion.

8. Confidentiality

All medical information submitted is treated as strictly confidential and shared only with the matched consultant and necessary service providers. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Limitation of Liability

Except for anything we cannot exclude by law (such as death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or in relation to the protection of your personal information), we are not legally responsible for losses that were not foreseeable to you and us when this contract was formed, losses not caused by any breach on our part, business losses, or losses to non-consumers.

Except where our liability cannot legally be limited or excluded, our total liability to you shall never exceed £5,000.

Our only responsibility is to suggest a relevant consultant based on the information you provide and to give you a platform to establish contact with them. Consultants are independent contractors, not employees of Medical Second Opinion, and we have no liability for any act or omission by a consultant.

10. Acceptable Use of This Website

You may use this site only for personal, non-commercial purposes connected with obtaining a second medical opinion. In using this site, you agree not to: use it for any illegal purpose; distribute viruses or malware; scrape, crawl, or extract data from it, including for training AI models; send spam or unwanted advertising; impersonate us or attempt to phish for information; disrupt the operation of the site; attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it; or circumvent any password or authentication method.

You may link to our site without our prior consent, provided the link does not frame our content, imply we endorse you, or misuse our trade marks or logos. You may not otherwise use or reproduce our name, logo, or trade marks.

If you breach this policy, we may suspend or terminate your access to the site and our services.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on this website is the property of Medical Second Opinion or its content suppliers. You may not reproduce or redistribute any content without our written permission.

12. Third Party Rights

No one other than you and Medical Second Opinion has any right to enforce any term of this contract.

13. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law & Disputes

We aim to resolve any disputes quickly and fairly — please contact us as soon as possible using the details below if you are unhappy with our service.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — meaning you may bring a claim there or in the courts of another part of the UK in which you live. If you live elsewhere, you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections provided by the laws of that country.
